Winter weather, use extreme caution

Please be aware the east and west surface parking areas are extremely slick. If you need to walk a dog, please try going to the south side of the building first. I would encourage everyone to use the parking garage to travel to and from your respective towers and office area. The heat tape on the roof causes snow to melt and then ice falls from the roof onto the ground from the breezeway and East and West tower entrances on the South side of the building. It is very dangerous for people moving through these areas.
Please be cautious! The north side of the building is especially dangerous in early mornings after snow.

Meridien Fall Update

Overnight Surface Parking: Now that winter is upon us and the snow will soon be flying, I wanted to remind everyone that the House Rules prohibit overnight surface parking. If you have guests, and it is absolutely necessary to park on the surface lot overnight, please have your guests park against the back wall on the West Side parking lot. There should be no parking on the East Side parking area overnight, as that side tends to ice up quickly and removing and scraping the snow is critical to minimizing the ice build up on the East side surface parking.

Recycling: Please be reminded that all recyclables going in the blue bins in the parking garage should be taken out of any plastic bags before being placed in the bin. There should no plastic bags of any sort in the blue recycling bins. Also, please be courteous and break down cardboard boxes so that there is room for everyone’s recyclables.

What to do if you see someone suspicious at the Meridien

On Sunday there was a person who was trespassing on Meridien property.  This seems to happen several times a year.  In the event that you suspect that someone is trespassing please call the non emergency number for the Salt Lake Police department.  Their number is 801-799-3000.  Officers have advised not to approach individuals or groups.  Please add this contract to your phones.

Changes to SLC Recycling Program

No plastic bags, films or wraps of any kind
No recyclables in plastic bags
No styrofoam
No shredded paper
Cardboard, paper, aluminum or steel cans, cartons, and empty plastic containers are all recyclable in the blue containers.
Try to use re-usable bags when possible, and drop off excess clean plastic bags at retailers and grocery chains where available.

Deliveries at the Meridien

We have had multiple problems with Fedex deliveries that require a signature. After talking to several drivers, and then yesterday speaking with the owner of the Fed-ex home delivery route, I have learned that they are understaffed, and have no policy in place for making much of an effort to obtain the required signature. I have posted signs in the office indicating that if there is a signature required, to call the office number as I am often out on the property. This should help, but I still wanted to send a note to all owners. If you have an option to chose UPS or USPS over Fedex, please do. If you have an option to not require a signature, that would be helpful as well.

If you have a package that you know requires a signature please let me know at least a day in advance so I can be on the lookout for the delivery. Thank you.

New Year Reminders

Happy 2018 to all members of the Meridien community! We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday and is off to a great start in the near year! I wanted to send out a few reminders for common spaces.

Gym: Please remember to clean up after yourself in the Gym. If you have guests visiting, please remind your guests to do the same. If you or a guest move equipment, please be sure to place it back in its rightful home when done. Please also wipe down equipment with the sanitary wipes provided.

Safety Reminder

I wanted to post a reminder to all residents who have a barbecue on their balcony/patio to please regularly check and clean the grease pan. We had a scare in July when one of the grills caught fire. Luckily we were able to extinguish the fire before anyone got hurt or damage to the building occurred, but this is a good time to remind everyone to check their grill.
